Insitu is a leading high-tech autonomous systems company driven by a culture of agility and systematic improvement. We currently produce and sell an ever growing fleet of Unmanned Aircraft Systems that are low-cost, long-endurance, and have low personnel requirements. These UASs provide a no-runway launch, unprecedented stabilized day and night video for ISR, robotic flight control, and a no-nets capture.
As we continue our rapid growth in the UAS/UAV market we are looking for experienced talent to help us achieve our goal of maintaining the agile and innovative problem-solving capabilities we offer. We currently have a need for a Systems Engineer of Architectural Development for UAS Systems.
Develop / generate architectural artifacts in support of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Systems (UAV / UAS) projects. Candidate will assist in the analysis and design of new system as well as capture the behavior of the system using model-driven architectural (MDA) artifacts. Knowledge of the system engineering processes and familiarity with tools such as Telelogic's System Architect or IBM's Rational Rose is required. Experience with objected-oriented analysis and design, Unified Modeling Language (UML), DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF), and concept of operations (CONOP) development is desired. Working knowledge of requirements management tools such as DOORS is a plus.
Interface with and provide support to various Integrated Product Teams (IPT) involved in the design and support of new and currently deployed UAS air and ground elements. Capture architectural descriptive artifacts in Systems Architect in keeping with the DoDAF. Background in one or more areas related to aircraft, in particular UAVs, is desired. Conduct Various Analyses and Trade Studies as required.
Mandatory Skills
Ability to define system's architecture and capture artifacts consistent with DoDAF or similar frameworks (ToGAF, Zachman framework, MoDAF)
Familiarity with System Architect, Rational Rose, or other architecture modeling tool(s)
General system engineering practices
Competency with Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships.
Ability to self-start and provide technical leadership in complex mission-critical technology based new development where needed.
In addition, must have experience and excel in two or more of the following subject areas:
System analysis and specification development
Requirements development and derivation
Verification / validation activities (V&V)
System technical performance optimization
Use of UML and use cases to describe system behavior
Technical foundation in electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering.
Software development, especially architecture.
Aircraft subsystems such avionics, structures, flight controls, power distribution, or propulsion
Command & control systems
Technical Reviews (PDR, CDR, etc.)
Optional Skills
Familiar with risk management and earned value.
Having competency in Deltek tools such as Open Plan, Welcome Risk, or Cobra is a plus.
Education
BS in Computer Science or Engineering- related discipline. MS in Systems Engineering desirable
