Position: Driver Architect

EXPERIENCE

The following are job requirements:

            - a BSCS or equivalent with 5+ years of experience

            - expert C programmer

            - IP and Ethernet expert

            - experience with embedded driver implementations

            - clear understanding of hardware with ability to use hardware analysis tools such as logic analyzers

The following would be advantages to the successful candidate:

            - implementations on a multi-core processor

            - experience with embedded Linux

RESPONSIBILITIES


This position reports to the leader of the Software Competency Center within the Advanced Development Center.  This group is responsible for creating, testing, and maintaining a distribution of re-usable software libraries that will be shared throughout Thomson's products.  The initial focus is on the products with embedded software (e.g., STBs, Home Gateways, Media Gateways).    The person filling this position will be responsible for ensuring the flexibility and integrity of driver-level code including network interfaces, plug-and-play devices, and peripheral interfaces.   The position requires working collaboratively with the business units to understand their needs, make recommendations as to the driver implementations.
