JOB SUMMARY Drives minibus, van, lightweight truck or other passenger vehicle to transport clients, trainees, or company personnel to destinations. Observes incidents or suspicious activity while operating vehicle at assigned site(s); reports incidents/activity to security personnel, client representatives or company management. Performs security services or other services as required for the site. Distinguishing Characteristics Duties include essential function of driving a passenger vehicle as designated by client contract. May be assigned a service grade or rank in a chain of command in conformance with contract requirements or to facilitate the delivery of service, according to business necessity. Drives vehicle from pick up points or central loading area to destinations according to assigned schedule or on an as-needed basis. 2. Assists passengers with disabilities into and out of vehicle; may secure ambulatory devices such as wheelchairs to restraints to stabilize during trip. 3. Operates radio or similar device to communicate with base station or other vehicles as needed; reports service disruptions and other incidents. 4. Cleans and services vehicle with fuel, lubricants, and accessories. 5. Provides an atmosphere in which all client employees and visitors know that the client responds to and cares about their needs; provides a courteous, respectful and pleasant interaction with each client employee and visitor as perceived from their point of view; presents a good image of the client and its security department. 6. Communicates in a manner that is open, honest and responsive in all situations; to the extent authorized, provides information regarding the site and surrounding area as requested by visitors. 7. May perform patrol duties at assigned site(s); checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, security violations, blocked ingress and egress, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons. 8. Prepares logs or reports as required for site(s); writes or types reports or enters information in a computer using standard grammar; inspects security control logs and takes action as required. 9. Observes and reports incidents or suspicious activity to security personnel, client representatives, company management, life/safety personnel or public safety authorities as appropriate for the circumstances and/or as required by the site(s). 10. Responds to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flood, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, and other incidents following procedures established for post, by the company, or through training or certification. 11. Carries out specific tasks and duties of a similar nature and scope as required for the assigned post. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference, depending upon the nature of the position. Background Prerequisites · Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled substance testing, and behavioral selection survey, in addition to any mandatory licensing requirements. · Ability to obtain current driver’s license for state of residence · Driving record must meet company and/or insurance standards as per MVR. Education/Experience · High School Diploma or G.E.D · Related experience preferred. Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing) · Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers. · Knowledge of or ability to learn security operations and procedures. · Ability to operate assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous manner. · Ability to see, hear, speak, and write clearly in order to communicate with employees and clients. Ability to write routine correspondence, including logs and reports. · Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. · Ability to be an effective team member. · Ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances. · Courteous telephone manner. · Ability to adapt to changes in the external environment and organization. · Good organizational skills. · Ability to provide high quality customer service. · Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at various social levels and across diverse cultures. · Required ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently. · Basic skills in keyboarding, computer usage, and operating controls.
