Dropin Counselor Position

Horizons Program is a community support program providing a range of services to seriously and persistently mentally ill adults 18 and older in Dakota County.

Horizons is seeking a dropin counselor in the Community Support Program (CSP) This program is designed to assist and engage adults in Dakota County who are experiencing mental illness. This job candidate will possess maturity to assist this population with access to mental health, medical, social, educational and vocational services to meet their individual mental health recovery needs. This position requires the ability to assess a person’s functioning; engage clients in socialization and enhance involvement in the community. The job candidate will also perform counseling and conflict resolution across social situations in the CSP. This position requires outreach to clients in the community, effective engagement skills, strong accountability and teamwork.

Experience and Qualification Requirements

Qualified candidates will possess a BA/BS and a minimum of two years of mental health experience, or MSW/MA in human services and one year experience. Must have a valid drivers’ license and good driving history.
