Drug & Alcohol Counselor Asst.

Abraxas Youth & Family Services, a leader in the juvenile justice field, has openings for Drug and Alcohol Counselors (all 2nd shift, 2:45pm to 10:45 pm) at our Erie, PA facilities.

Abraxas began in Marienville, Pennsylvania in 1973 with only one site and only 30 kids. Now, Abraxas Youth & Family Services extends to eight states serving 4,225 youth, adults and families at 29 different locations.

The Erie programs provide an innovative array of treatment programs for delinquent and/or dependant youth, both male and female, in the mental health system and males with substance abuse issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

? Coordinates and implements case management activities
? Develops and implements treatment plans to include the provision of at least 10 hours of treatment services during primary care hours each week
? Provides individual counseling and completes related documentation
? Provides caseload group counseling and completes related documentation
? Facilitates family sessions and completes related documentation
? Facilitates drug & alcohol treatment groups and completes related documentation
? Facilitates therapeutic recreation groups and completes related documentation

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
C.A.C. or national certification, or;

Current licensure in the Commonwealth as a registered nurse and a degree from an accredited school of nursing and one (1) year of counseling experience, or;

Associates Degree in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing or related field and two (2) years of clinical experience, or;

BA/BS Degree in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing or other related field and one (1) year of clinical experience, or

MA/MS Degree in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing or other related field, which includes a practicum in a health and human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting.

Must be at least 21 years of age
Criminal clearances (Act 33 and 34 clearances, specific State and child clearances and if necessary FBI)
Non-communicable diseases physical exam
Valid driver's license
Valid insured registered vehicle
