Job Description:
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Promotes and provides resources for the company’s safety and environmental program designed to achieve a safe, accident free, and healthy work environment. Responsible for assuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulations through completion of required annual compliance reporting requirements. Coordinates internal safety and environmental activities through employee empowered teams. Facilitate safety and environmental training, either through training the trainers or direct involvement.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

• Facilitate the Regional Safety Committees, guiding members to work proactively with supervision in efforts to maintain a safe work environment preventing work place injury and illness.
• Facilitates safety training to new hires and annual re-training as required for all employees utilizing trained trainers or by direct training.
• Manage and coordinate the Environmental Management System to assure environmental compliance with all regulations.
• Manage the EHS CAPA system to ensure that areas on non-compliance and risk are effectively addressed in a timely manner.
• Support managers and supervisors in their understanding, adherence to, and implementation of federal, state, and local laws governing plant safety and environment.
• Actively guide and participate in efforts to promote safety awareness and increase proficiency in safe work practices.
• Ensure company safety policies and written programs are current, and properly communicated/implemented.
• Assure that regular periodic internal audits of the facility are done to identify conditions that may be hazardous or non-compliant with OSHA standards.
• Manage workers compensation claims administration from the initial accident event starting with accident investigation through gathering and completing all proper documentation to go to the 3rd party claims administrator who takes over after claim submitted.
• Manage and coordinate annual hygiene, air and noise testing including audiometric exams.

Additional scope:
• BS/BA required, preferably in the engineering field
• 2-5 years of EHS exp
• Experience in Workers Compensation required
• Knowledge of Business Continuity Planning a plus
• Self Starter and willing to accept responsibility beyond defined job scope
• Willing to travel 25 percent
• All activities must be aligned across 4 North American sites as well as within field resources
