ENG - Process Engineer II

General Purpose of Job:
Assist in the development and sustainment of the Polyimide Value Stream through process engineering activities.
Reports to: Value Stream Leader
Direct Reports: None
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Interprets market/customer requirements and define appropriate manufacturing process specifications
  • Develops, executes, and monitors project plans
  • Trains appropriate personnel on any new/upgraded equipment or processes
  • Develops "clean" process environments for critical operations
  • Implements lean process improvements for Polyimide heater assembly
  • Develops Surface Mount Technology through procurement of essential equipment and training others in proper techniques
  • Maintains and analyzes appropriate Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts/data
  • Completes all reports and data analysis
  • Employs root cause analysis
  • Sets up testing and performs material/product testing
  • Creates and sustains Standard Work documents and/or Process workflow documents
  • Assists in understanding current capabilities of foil etching process and makes recommendations for improvements or alternate methods
  • Recommends revision of specifications when indicated
  • Supports product/process validation and resolution of customer problems
  • Understands and clarifies customer's needs and provides product application support
  • Evaluates yield, performance, and other statistical data for trends and develops corresponding product or process improvements
  • Researches suppliers and new sources of products, materials, and components
  • Prepares documentation packages for new and modified products and processes
  • Prevents and responds to safety challenges

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Ideal candidate will possess BS Degree in an applicable Engineering discipline (Materials, Mechanical, or Chemical, Manufacturing).
  • Three plus years experience applying skills in a manufacturing based environment.
  • Preference given to individuals with specific experience in flex circuit manufacturing and/or chemical/mechanical etching processes in a "clean" environment.
  • Experience with ISO 9001-2000.
  • Proficiency in MS Office required
  • Experience in a lean manufacturing environment desired.
  • Demonstrated excellent written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with products being manufactured and their processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of the organization as well as key customers and vendors.
  • Individual must have a keen sense of attention to detail.
  • Must be able to read drawings.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management with verifiable results.
  • Six-Sigma Green Belt certification desired, Black Belt certification preferred including DMAIC methodology.
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) working knowledge. Ability to run analysis and process improvements.
  • Familiarity with Material Resource Planning (MRP) systems.
  • Must be willing/able to travel on occasion (2-4x/yr) for customer/vendor visits.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
