Description of Work:
Sr Principal Manufacturing Engineer
St. Jude Medical is looking for a degreed Principle Manufacturing Engineer with proven experience in applying technology solutions in CNC machining and automated inspection technology for continuous improvement. Complex engineering problem solving and results orientation a must in manufacturing troubleshooting. Proven decision making and direction setting ability required.
This position will design and develop manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures in order to meet daily production schedules while enhancing productivity and product quality.
Essential Functions:
Design and develop manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures in order to meet daily production schedules while enhancing productivity and product quality
Evaluation of production equipment
Production support and process validation
Interface with vendors for incoming components
Troubleshoot manufacturing process and equipment
Utilize tools like Gage R&R, Cp, Cpk, and SPC to improve processes
Understand manufacturing concepts like Value Stream mapping, 5S and Visual Workplace to improve quality, labor efficiency, and throughput.
Protocol and report writing
Generate and modify manufacturing process documentation
Work with cross functional teams as required
Develop and implement process improvements
May supervise and provide work direction to other engineers and technicians
Other Duties:
Support all Divisional initiatives as identified by divisional management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements
Education and/or Experience -
Mechanical Engineering degree required
14+ years manufacturing engineering experience
Medical device experience preferred
Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills
Demonstrated leadership capability in team settings
Six Sigma certification preferred
Must have strong working knowledge of CNC machining equipment and automated inspection equipment including related control programs and software.
Looking for technology expert with proven experience in applying.
Ability and proven experience in identifying, assessing, and applying latest technologies to improve machining and inspection processes/equipment.
Strong experience in finding solutions to major problems and implementing for results in many areas of manufacturing.
