The person selected for this position must be prepared professionally as a teacher/leader of young children the field of Early Childhood education or Child Development, meeting the requirements of the Illinois D.C.F.S. pursuant to section 407.130 of the Licensing Standards for Day Care Centers.  This person must be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults.  This person must have the personality and ability to provide leadership and stability for program continuity.  Bilingual a plus.  Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:


t                   Educational head of the center with Head Start Experience

t                   Coach for Creative Curriculum for infants, toddlers, and twos

t                   Coach for Creative Curriculum for all preschool age groups

t                   Must be an effective team player

t                   Collecting and soliciting applications for staff prospects

t                   Hiring and dismissal of personnel

t                   Abiding by the NAEYC code of conduct

t                   Excelerate Knowledge

t                   Teacher evaluations

t                   Making sure center meets or exceeds all Illinois D.C.F.S. licensing requirements and standards

t                   Financial budgeting

t                   Ordering school equipment and materials

t                   Organizing staff and parent meetings and events

t                   Assisting executive director in enrollment procedures

t                   Assisting in public relation events sponsored by the Academy

t                   Summer planning

t                   Organizing parent-community educational program

t                   To act as a liaison between parents, staff, executive director, etc.

t                   Setting up yearly calendars

t                   Monitoring of CACFP

t                   Over-seeing all center personnel

t                   Continuous staff development and professional growth

t                   Arranging for the opening and closing of the center facility

t                   Arranging routine fire/tornado drills

t                   The overall safety and condition of the building and equipment

t                   Physical capabilities – Must be able to lift 45lbs on a daily basis, numerous times a day

t                   Upholding the policy and philosophy of the center

t                   Treating families and children with dignity and respect

t                   Supervising the teaching staff to ensure the smooth coordination of all classroom activities and  staff/student interrelationships

t                   Attending meeting and conferences of professional organizations appropriate for early childhood educators
