The Teacher Education & Development Group is looking for an Editor. The main function of this Editor will be to manage the industry leading college literacy list, in print and media, toward continued growth through strategic revisions, first edition development and savvy portfolio management. A key priority is also to collaborate with editorial media to successfully envision and develop a winning MyEdLab pedagogy that drives college literacy.

'Build product plans for text and/or media.

'Manage the reviewing process and help develop the author's vision for the work. Reinforce manuscript schedule and deadlines. Serve as the main contact for authors.

'Work with Media group and management to envisage MyEdLab pedagogy that will drive sales and retention. Ensure timely delivery of high quality content for MyEducationLab.

'Work with authors to develop appropriate supplements, online support materials and product packaging concepts with the goal of adding value and stimulating sell-through.

'Work with Production and Manufacturing to ensure the on-time, high-quality publication of Literacy products.

'Work with marketing, sales, and editorial colleagues to coordinate information on projects and to handle requests for support.

'Establish the financial base for Literacy publications by creating P&L's, book data sheets, and researching past sales models.

'Analyze the market opportunities for product acquisitions.

This Editor may directly supervise or share supervisory responsibility for an Editorial Assistant.

Related work experience:

'5-7 years of publishing acquisitions and development editorial experience (college publishing experience or K-12 literacy/ELL editorial experience preferred)
'5 years of college publishing sales experience or equivalent

Formal education or equivalent:

Bachelor's degree from a 4 year college

Skills:

-Project management, author management, collaboration, problem solving, strategic thinking, planning/organization, oral and written communication, MS Word and Excel.

-Strong working knowledge of the editorial process and the literacy/ELL markets, familiarity with educational technology is desirable.

-Position will require approximately 10% travel. Conventions, sales meetings, and some college/school travel.
