O'Brien & Gere is actively seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer for our Albany, NY location. This opportunity will be responsible for, but certainly not limited to, the following:
· Understands electrical system modeling and is familiar with SKM and or Easy Power software
· Understands and can apply short circuit, and protective device coordination
· Is familiar with 480V motor control, and can develop motor control elementary diagrams
· Understands and can apply the fundamentals of NFPA 70E including calculations and subsequent PPE requirements
· Understands industrial instrumentation, can develop control annotation on P&ID's
· Understands and can develop instrument loop diagrams
· Is willing to and capable of responding to a flexible and changing project environment which will include: Industrial Wastewater projects, Higher Education projects, Chemical/ Food/ Pharmaceutical/Ceramic Industry projects, Environmental projects and Design-Build projects
· Is interested in developing long term internal and external client relationships
· Is willing to travel to client project locations for project execution and client relationship purposes
· Has fundamental medium voltage distribution system experience
· Is willing to accept challenges and learn new skills with a high level of self motivation
· Is AutoCad proficient and has fundamental Revit MEP skills
Skills & Qualifications
· Associates Degree and 10+ years of relevant experience; or Bachelors Degree and 1 - 3 years of relevant experience
· Has successfully passed the EIT exam, or has the ability to obtain EIT within 1 year
· Gains knowledge through participation in technical societies and attendance at internal and external training programs, to a degree consistent with individual and divisional goals
· Able to work with multi-disciplined engineering teams
· Can handle a multiple-project workload at one time
· Is open to travel when required
