Role Summary/Purpose
The Electrical Design Engineer will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop microprocessor-based products for our Single Board Computer product line
  • Design and develop embedded Single Board Computers (SBC) using Mentor Dx Designer or Design Capture schematic capture tools
  • Document hardware specifications
  • Develop and document engineering test plans
  • Execute project plans, budgets, and schedules
  • Work in small, self-motivated teams transforming customer requirements into products
  • Take and drive design from conceptualization and initial product design to meet specifications through prototype delivery to manufacturing release
  • Receive Six Sigma training and join cross-functional teams contributing to Six Sigma projects improving team productivity and product quality

    Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years experience in board-level hardware development
  • Minimum 1 year design experience with PowerPC and/or Pentium class processors or other 32 bit or higher embedded processors
  • Minimum 1 year experience developing a design from conceptualization through prototype delivery and manufacturing release
  • Minimum 1 year recent hands-on experience in board debug including use of lab test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, emulators and other debug electronicsELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without visa sponsorship due to ITAR compliance

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications
    GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.

    Desired Characteristics
  • Experienced user of CAD programs required: Schematic capture, timing and simulation tools. Examples: DxDesigner, Design Capture, Altera Quartus, Hyperlynx, Verilog, SiSoft and ModelSim
  • Expertise in memory design, high speed Ethernet, high speed serial I/O, disk interface, VME, cPCI, VPX, CPLD/FPGA design and other PC peripherals
  • Experience with all or any of the following formats: VME, VPX, CPCI, PMC, PCI,
  • Hands on design and development of embedded Single Board Computers (SBC)’s AMC, ATCA
  • Experience with design for cooling of high power electronics at the component and board level
  • Experience in design of rugged and or conduction cooled electronics
  • Secret clearance that is current
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
