| Electrical Design Engineer |
|
The Medical Products Division of W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. is seeking an Electrical/Controls & Automation Engineer. This person will work with manufacturing and machine design teams and will be responsible for the identification, conception, specification, design, build, implementation and support of manufacturing and test equipment.
Duties will include the following:
- Interpret equipment requests and develop design specifications
- Design of controls systems including motion, vision, robotics, and SCADA
- Development of manufacturing and test equipment
- Writing and validation of new Software
- Document systems, software and electrical schematics
- Write supporting documentation for manufacturing per Quality System requirements
- Propose projects and complete within time & cost estimates
- Support manufacturing by performing installation and operational qualification, troubleshooting and modifying existing equipment
Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related degree. If no degree, 5 years experience in electrical automation engineering including medical device equipment may be substituted.
- Programming experience
- Safe electrical practices
- Good verbal and written communication skills required
Preferred:
- 1-3 years experience in the medical device or other regulated industry
- Flip Chip technology experience
- Wire bonding experience
- Signal Transmission Analysis/troubleshooting
- Programming experience in .NET, LabView, C++ and PLC's
- Experience with motion control systems
- Experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical.
- Able to develop machine design concepts based on needs for product quality, process capability, and/or manufacturing throughput needs
- Proficiency at integrating computer hardware/software, motion control and instrumentation components
- Experience implementing temperature, strain, flow and pressure transducers and other sensors
- Development and understanding of control algorithms
- Understanding of data acquisition systems, instrumentation and calibration
- Experience in electrical trouble shooting and equipment maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of industrial control concepts such as RS232 and Ethernet communications protocols, distributed I/O, analog and digital signal processing
- Experience with Machine Vision Systems, Lasers, and Laser systems
- A work style of hands-on involvement in all phases of a project
- Understanding of electrical standards such as NFPA 79 and NEC
