Electrical Designer

Electrical Designer



Description:
Electrical Engineer to work within a team of engineers to work on various existing and new projects. The responsibilities to include facility walk-downs, engineering drawings, specifications, electrical power and lighting calculations, and supporting construction phase. The candidate will be responsible for directing the work of other engineers and designers. The position will require a team spirit to work well with other project managers and engineers and designers at remote offices in order to support the overall electrical design demand. The candidate will be a key member of the electrical engineering team, working on the electrical design of engineering projects primarily within the Los Alamos office. Candidate will be responsible for generating design deliverables for projects, generating and working within strict budget and schedule constraints to execute the process engineering scope. Must be able to direct designers and work within a multidisciplinary team. Must be able to interface with client on a regular basis. The successful candidate will be able to show motivation and tenacity in solving problems and completing assignments.


Requirements:
Knowledge and experience of electrical standards and facility design requirements. These include the National Electric Code and IEEE standards. The candidate should possess at least 2 years engineering experience. Should be able to perform short-circuit calculations, voltage drop calculations, and lighting calculations. Proficiency in AutoCAD is a plus. Operational and/or design experience with Department of Energy projects is a plus. Degree Requirements Bachelor of Sciences Must be able to perform power distribution, coordination studies, and lighting calculations. Must be able to provide design support in power and lighting distribution, and special systems (fire alarm, security, radiological, communications, lightning protection. Must be familiar with power conditioning equipment such as UPS and voltage regulators. Be able to edit specifications (LANL, DOE, and DOD). Be able to work with other disciplines and architects. Must follow Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) procedures.
