Electrical Engineer - Biofuels

Job Description:

The Electrical Engineer position will be part of the ground-floor design operation for a new biofuels company. They will develop specification and drawing packages for heavy industrial equipment procurement and installation to produce cellulose biomass to fuels.Work closely with the shop floor skilled trades personnel to assist in installation as necessary. Work within a team of designers, design engineers, mechanical engineers, chemical engineers, project managers and other discipline leads to meet company commitments. Hands-on electrical engineering work outside of an office setting including but not limited to wiring, control panel troubleshooting. Develop electrical engineering qualification and test documentation: electrical test specifications, procedures, and instructions for electrical systems and components. Participate in design and safety reviews of all electrical product introductions and changes. Specify, design, build, and qualify custom electrical test equipment for assembly, inspection, or testing of systems and components. Investigate and initiates changes to the product or process that will improve the quality, reduce the cost and/or enhance the product performance.

Required Experience
Candidate must have experience with medium voltage power distribution, standby/emergency power generation, automatic transfer switches, short circuit calculation software and 480V motor control including variable frequency drives. Candidate will be developing equipment and installation specifications and drawing packages including one lines, power distribution plans, lighting plans, conduit/cable schedule plans and schedules, grounding plans and details, load lists, motor schematics and hazardous area classification plans. Experience with PLC/DCS/HMI systems is a plus. Candidate must have a 5+-years experience. Petro-chemical or bio-fuel industry knowledge in regards to hazardous area classification and impacts to equipment selection is a plus.
