Scope of Position:
The candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists to develop prototype electronic systems for a wide variety of new product concepts.
Current projects include high-speed fiber-optic transceivers and novel touch screens.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
He or she will provide expertise in electrical engineering and assist the group with needs related to circuit design, PCB design, embedded controller design, and testing of prototype electronics and opto-electronic systems.
Required Education:
· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Master’s degree preferred.
· 5 years work experience preferred but not required
Required Skills:
· Circuit design: KVL, KCL, Laplace transforms, Bode plots, feedback stability. Op-Amps.
· Time and Frequency Domain analysis.
· RF Techniques: Amplifier linearity, distortion. Mixing and Modulation techniques.
· FIR/IIR signal processing. SPICE circuit simulation.
· Switching Power Supplies: Buck/Boost converters, high-efficiency LED drive circuits.
· PCB Design, Assembly, Soldering, Debugging.
· Familiarity with Thermal analysis, Controlled impedance design: micro strip, strip line, coaxial and twin ax signal transmission.
· Filter design.
· Equipment Familiarity: Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, Clock Synthesizer, Network Analyzer, Time Domain Reflectometry, Bit Error Rate / Eye Diagram Testing, Jitter Analysis, Lock-in Amplifier, Power supplies.
Computer Programming skills:
· Basic Linux/Unix sysadmin skills: shell scripting, Perl/Awk/sh, C-programming, HTML, My SQL
· Data Analysis: Matlab or equivalent, Algorithms: sorting + searching, Fourier transforms.
· Microsoft Office familiarity.
Desired Skills:
· Embedded systems: assembly language programming, PLD/FPGA
· IC Design Analog/Digital Bipolar/CMOS, IC layout and verification skills: Familiarity with IC testing: loopback, JTAG, wafer probing.
· Verilog programming and simulation.
Soft Skills (Communication/Team/Leadership):
· Works well with teams.
· Good presentation skills
Travel Requirements:
· Occasional travel, mostly in the US.
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
· 5 day, 40 hour workweek.
