Electrical Engineer
Insitu is a leading high-tech autonomous systems company driven by a culture of agility and systematic improvement . Since 1994 Insitu has led in the design, development and production of small autonomous aircraft for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). We currently produce and sell an ever growing fleet of Unmanned Aircraft Systems that are low-cost, long-endurance, and have low personnel requirements. These UASs provide a no-runway launch, unprecedented stabilized day and night video for ISR, robotic flight control, and a no-nets capture.
As we continue our rapid growth in the UAS/UAV market we are looking for experienced talent to help us achieve our goal of maintaining the agile and innovative problem-solving capabilities we offer. We currently have a need for an experienced Electrical Engineer. - Researches, develops, designs, and tests avionics/electrical components, equipment, and systems, applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering
- Diagnoses malfunctions in existing products and makes improvements or modifications to produce desired results
- Provides support to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements
- Utilizes computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks
- Performs risk assessments and generates risk mitigation plans and strategies
- May specialize in specific area of discipline, such as specialty aircraft and related electrical components, (e.g., cameras and sensors), radio-frequency equipment communications, optical equipment and relays; or area of work, such as manufacturing, applications, or installation
- May select and supervise the work of subcontractors / vendors to the organization
- Both circuit design and board layout experience is preferred. Ideal candidate will be capable of both skills, but circuit design skills are the most important ones. Additionally, understanding the interface between hardware design and operating system driver development is important.
- Prefer candidates will have had experience with processes and procedures similar to ISO9000, AS9001 or CMMI, creating documents such as drawings, work instructions, specifications, test procedures, and BOM's. Should be able to communicate effectively with individuals of various technical backgrounds and experiences.
- Also looking for experience in design for manufacturing, familiarity with network engineering, focusing on integrating real time digital, video, and voice data systems over modem, internet, and Ethernet protocols in a Windows Embedded CE environment.
