DESCRIPTION:

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Discipline Lead on small to medium electrical projects from kick-off meeting thru construction phase; mentor junior staff and delegate, as needed; produce biddable documents (drawings and specifications); prepare and check design calculations; prepare reports; prepare technical scope of work text; develop/author project design criteria and code analysis; systems selection and design; check plans and specifications; perform fieldwork/inspections, surveys, studies, and punch lists; develop construction costs; attend project meetings and client meetings; prepare addenda and change orders; assist or perform systems start-up and commissioning; stay familiar with updates to pertinent codes, criteria, standards, and regulations; evaluate new software/design methodology; resolve technical issues and answer technical questions; conduct technical research; conduct presentations; assist in preparing proposals and contracts for clients, subconsultants, subcontractors, and vendors; prepare or assist in preparing file protocols and document control procedures; assist in project cost controls through preparing and maintaining cost reports; change control through preparing and maintaining project change reports; and assist in project closeout activities.

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:

BS Electrical Engineering, additional professional development preferred; Engineer-in-Training preferred, Professional Electrical Engineer (PE) or equivalent licensure, as appropriate, preferred; 2 to 6 years of consulting experience; detailed knowledge of electrical power supply distribution, and control technology; detailed knowledge of construction contract documents and deliverables; detailed knowledge of electrical analysis software, including power systems analysis, protection, and coordination, energy consumption/conservation analysis, and lighting application analysis; good written and verbal communication skills; coordinate with Project Manager and other disciplines; electrical design experience in industry, education, government, and commercial projects; low voltage distribution and general power design experience; experience leading small electrical design projects and coordinating project schedule/completion with multiple disciplines; capable of generating construction cost estimates, and produce preliminary level of efforts for designs; and basic working knowledge of AutoCAD.  A valid driver’s license is required and you must be willing to participate in a USDOT Regulated Work Place Drug and Alcohol Program.
