Electrical Engineer - Federal Employment
The Electrical Engineer position requires design and specification of lighting, power distribution, telecommunications, and fire alarm systems including field investigation and interaction with clients. Selected candidate will be assigned multiple concurrent design projects. Project schedules will overlap and will be at various stages of design. Candidate must be able to multitask, have good communication skills and the ability to work in teams with coworkers and clients. Attend review meetings (some travel required) and interact with users, and utility providers to ensure design meets all local requirements, and expectations. Review electrical and building codes, as well as UFCs to verify their incorporation into the design.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Design plans and specifications of electrical systems for buildings and facilities including medium voltage distributions systems, site lighting, OSP communications, interior lighting and power distribution, fire alarm and mass notifications systems, grounding and lightning protection, special systems (IDS and Access control systems), data and telecommunications systems. Prepare design calculations, reports and technical scope of work.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred experience:
Travel: Once or twice a month (trips are from 1 to 5 days)
Minimum Education and Experience
5 to 15 years experience must be in building design (lighting, power, fire alarm, and communications) and/or site electrical and communications design as a consulting engineer preparing full design plans and specifications for new construction, building restoration and renovation projects.
Good understanding of sustainable design practices.
Education: BS in Electrical Engineering (from an ABET Accredited University)
EIT license required
PE license required for higher grades
US Citizenship required
LEED AP preferred
