Universal Engineering Inc. is a St. Paul/Minneapolis, MN firm doing business in the international market. We are engaged in the design of mobile equipment for the Construction, Mining, Agricultural, Industrial, Logging, Entertainment, Automotive, Man Lift, Military, and Power Generation Industries.

 

We are an engineering firm that offers our employees the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging projects that stimulate innovativeness and excellence. We need a versatile Electrical Engineer that is seeking growth in the technical area.

 

We need an experienced and versatile Electrical Engineer with the following qualities:

 

Develop new and innovative electrical design concepts of machinery and components from concept to production. These would be system wiring, interconnect, and schematics.  Specify and define electrical components and systems for mobile equipment, generator systems, etc (see above) including sensors for engines, cooling, control, starters, charging, and accessories, connectors, relays, circuit breakers, and wiring harnesses.  Provide cross function leadership and coordination between Controls, Mfg, Engineering, and external suppliers.  Manage external  suppliers from requirements definition through delivery by defining technical, schedule and quality requirements and managing progress.

 

  • Must have a BSEE with 10+ years experience.
  • A working knowledge of generator set development and testing is desirable.
  • Develop and implement plans for design, analysis, build and testing of product and subsystems.
  • Work with designers and technicians to develop creative solutions to difficult problems.
  • Select and manage external suppliers.
  • Demonstrate team interaction skills.
  • Ability to work with people and build group commitments to goals.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Strong commitment to on time delivery.
  • Work cross functionally to understand and properly evaluate design trade offs.
  • Lead cross functional design reviews.
  • Strong process development skills and committed to using and improving existing processes.
  • A working knowledge of AutoCAD or other 2D system is desirable.
  • Must be computer literate in word processing and Excel spreadsheets, as a minimum requirement.
