We are currently looking for an Electrical Engineer based in our Portsmouth, NH facility.   The Electrical Engineer is responsible for performing engineering evaluations and reviewing engineering designs/drawings generated by others associated with electrical equipment for both lab units and commercial plants, including calculations and computer modeling.  This person will also be responsible for the development of original designs, troubleshooting and repair of equipment, and preparation of work documents for use by production personnel. 

 

Responsibilities:

•           Analyzes steady state and transient response of circuits using the principles of circuit analysis and is familiar with and able to use modern computer based electrical simulation software.

•           Directs and/or performs troubleshooting and repair of malfunctioning electrical components or circuits.

•           Performs technical review of documents generated by outside sources to ensure accurate technical content in accordance with industry standards as well as company practices and designs. These documents include, but are not limited to, power distribution arrangement and equipment specifications, electrical single line schematics, and electrical work packages.  The majority of these documents are associated with commercial installation at industrial sites. 

•           Works on both power circuits and control circuits ranging in voltage from 5 volts up to as high as 100 kilovolts.

•           Develops specifications for material, orders material, and receipt inspects material.

•           Designs experiments, acquires data, draws conclusions, and documents results.

•           Prepares drawings, reports, and manuals in a professional form suitable for archiving for documentation purposes and for distribution to customers.

•           Prepares test procedures and work instructions sufficiently complete to permit performance of the procedures by manufacturing personnel.  Monitors manufacturing personnel to ensure testing and work is being performed correctly.  May have to personally assist/perform some assembly and wiring work in support of activities associated with the Electrical Engineering Department.

•           Performs simple mechanical design work in support of development of electrical components.

•           Interacts with engineering personnel at vendor and customer sites.

 

Required Background:

•           Must be familiar with, able to operate, and understand the limitation of modern electrical analyzing equipment, including digitizing oscilloscopes.

•           5+ years experience in electrical power distribution for commercial applications (power plant and/or chemical industry preferred).

•           Engineering degree, preferably in an Electrical Engineering discipline

•           Knowledge of CAD, EPlan or similar drafting software is preferred

•           Familiarity with popular automation & control platforms (i.e., PLC/DCS and SCADA)

•           Ability and willingness to travel
