Electrical Engineer

Our ceilings plant in St. Helens, Oregon is currently seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to support manufacturing operations by working directly with internal and external resources to lead projects that involve the following technologies: 

  • electro-mechanical registration systems,

  • coordinated drive systems, and

  • process control and measurement systems. 

 
Additional responsibilities include
  • developing and implementing of process improvement & manufacturing capacity projects consistent with the organization's manufacturing control strategies and business objectives. 

  • full responsibility for the planning and execution of all phases of work assignment. 

  • initiating independent engineering studies that include complex technical or project management assignments. 

  • providing technical leadership for, or coordination of, a technical team which may involve several engineering disciplines whose combined efforts will add significantly to the Corporate profit-making capabilities. 

The St. Helens's Plant, 1 of 6 Armstrong ceiling plants, employs approximately 150 people working on rotating shifts in the manufacture and shipment of acoustical ceiling tile to Armstrong's customers.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • B.S. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from an accredited college or university. 

  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing control systems, drives and programmable controllers. 

  • Project management and team facilitation skills required and a minimum 2-4 years experience. Technical experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience leading the installation of new systems and troubleshooting existing systems in a manufacturing environment is also necessary for success.

  • Ability to work effectively with various groups, both technical and non-technical. 

  • Ability to self manage with little direct supervision. 

Job may require off-shift work to support and improve the manufacturing operation.
