Mechanical Project Engineer

In partnership with our client, an international steel manufacturer with facilities near Blytheville, Arkansas we are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer with manufacturing and project management skills to lead implementation of capital projects and manufacturing optimization efforts.


Essential Functions:
• Assisting in the development of project scope
• Developing project submittal (budget estimate with back-up and schedule) and executing project (reviewing contractor bids and contracts, and tracking physical and budget progress)
• Tracking and monitoring project objectives, cost, timelines and deliverables
• Preparing and issuing all relevant documentation
• Conducting contractor and project meetings
• Reporting status of current projects on a weekly basis
• Providing technical input and recommendations when requested by maintenance, operations or staff departments
• Developing and designing equipment standards as needed
• Supporting annual plant outage planning and execution
• Assisting process engineers in the development of projects related to process improvement
• Performing other duties as required


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; an advanced degree is highly preferred
• 8 to 20 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing industry; 5 year minimum experience level required
• 5 to 10 years experience in project engineering management is desired; 5 year minimum project management experience required;
• Proven and demonstrable project management skills
• Strong computer skills
• Good interpersonal skills that support effective communication
• Ability to work with cross functional teams
