Electrical Engineer with Smart Grid technology experience

 

Our client a leading global business and information technology services company that leverages deep industry and functional expertise, leading technology practices, and an advanced, global delivery model to help clients transform their highest-value business processes and improve their business performance is currently looking to fill a fulltime  position for an Electrical Engineer with Smart Grid technology experience  based out of Salem, VA

 

Job Description:

Design for advanced distribution automation applications.
Develop and maintain software applications that combine advanced open-systems architecture, power system applications, and relational database technologies
Apply solutions to unique customer environments and assist customers with troubleshooting problems related to the power system applications in a mission critical system..
Respond to first level of requests for customers related to power system applications.  Support the development of cost estimates and technical proposals.

Work in cooperation with marketing, sales, new product development and customer project teams.
Provide design, coding, and testing support for domestic and international customers.
Write test procedures, perform factory acceptance testing with customers and support field deployment.


Mandatory Skills & Experience


10 years + relevant experience
Must possess a MS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering ideally with distribution power systems applications & Smart Grid focus.
Must include knowledge in one or more of the following: 3-phase unbalanced distribution, load modeling, distributed generation, voltage and var control, power system simulation, and optimal power flow.

Experience in testing and deployment of distribution power applications and Smart Grid solution or Green Engineering.
Experience in preparing technical analysis, designs, definition of data models, and design testing approaches for applications being developed.

Candidate should have demonstrated the ability to support deployment of applications into customer utility environments supporting consulting on network definition and application tuning.  
Candidate should have hands-on approach to troubleshooting, optimizing and development/support of applications.
Knowledge of software development skills with experience in Fortran, C++ or other programming languages.

Good communication, easy contact, rapid to adaptation, can foster team spirit, and capable of listening
Problem analysis and troubleshooting skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Self-motivated with ability to multitask.
Strong customer focus and sense of urgency


Optional Skills


Knowledge of renewable energy technologies with respect to power system distributionAware of software configuration management tools such as ClearCase/ClearQuest
Experience in optimization techniques such as linear programming
