Description: The Electrical Power Engineer Project Coordinator will be responsible for the electrical infrastructure within the Keokuk facility, providing applied project engineering and technical consultation to the Keokuk engineering and management group in the areas of power generation, electrical distribution, power systems studies, coordination studies, arc-flash studies, power quality analysis, conceptual design, system expansion and employee training. This position applies practical electrical power engineering expertise to HV, MV and LV systems in order to develop equipment and installation specifications develop field installation and pre-start up/operational checkout procedures and develop troubleshooting guidelines as may be required by the Keokuk engineering and management group. Electrical Power Engineer Project Coordinator will be reporting to the Engineering Department; location Keokuk, Iowa based at the company’s corn wet-milling and bio-refinery facility.
Main Responsibilities
· Lead oversight of the company’s electrical and power generation infrastructure to ensure safe, compliant and reliable system application and performance.
· Provide safety leadership relative to electrical distribution and power systems. Qualify personnel in safe operation of High and Medium Voltage switching and execution of electrical system Lock Out/Tag Out.
· Audit and modify protective relay schemes and other safe guard systems.
· Provide project engineering, technical consultation and perform studies/analysis on facility power systems, power coordination and quality, arc flash, design, and power system expansion.
· Lead development and implementation of arc flash, power system and electrical distribution Standard Operating Procedures and employee training and qualification.
· Develop electrical and power system equipment and installation specifications, field installation and pre-start up/operational checkout procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines for hourly and salaried employees.
· Plan and execute capital projects effectively, as well as support the Keokuk facility’s future plant expansions.
· Work collaboratively with Engineering, Management, SHE, Purchasing, Maintenance and Reliability, Planning, Human Resources, Finance, Planning, and contractors on scoping, developing and implementing projects and programs.
· Support development and implementation of preventive electrical maintenance programs. Utilize predictive technologies such as Infrared Thermography and Motor Circuit Analysis in developing power system reliability plans.
· Support facility-wide troubleshooting and problem solving efforts.
· Maintain current knowledge of industry safety and engineering technology advances and changes relative to distribution and relaying equipment.
Qualifications
· BS in Electrical Engineering with Power elective courses; MS in Power Systems is preferred
· 5-7 yrs experience in utility or industrial high voltage distribution and transmission systems
· Demonstrated competency with export power generation systems larger than 10 MVA; larger than 25 MVA is preferred
· Demonstrated competency with modeling and analysis for industrial and distribution power systems using a software modeling program; Easy Power Programming Software experience preferred
· Ability to generate 1-line electrical drawings and electrical wiring diagrams with a software CAD program
· Project management experience required; project scope development experience desired
· Demonstrated utilization of reliability-centered design principles preferred
· Demonstrated understanding of power system engineering fundamentals
· Demonstrated knowledge with NEC, NFPA, 29CFR1910 Subpart S requirements
· Demonstrated clear, informative, persuasive and collaborative verbal and written communication skills
· Demonstrated competency with engineering mathematics involving Algebra and Basic Trigonometry, with a sound understanding of Statistics
· Demonstrated strong computer skills, especially Microsoft XL, Outlook, Power Point and Word. CMMS experience desired.
· Demonstrated strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
