Responsibilities and Tasks
The Electrical Specialist provides leadership in the development and implementation of global/corporate/strategic electrical safety standards. The Electrical Specialist will provide expertise to the Business Units to ensure employee safety and regulatory compliance.. The Electrical Specialist will provide strong organizational focus and communication in alignment with Vestas key performance indicators and Vestas’ business objectives.
Essential Functions:
1) Establish Vestas Minimum Standards for Lockout-Tag out and Electrical Safety Program.
2) Provide technical support to the Business Units in the implementation of Minimum Standards for Lockout-Tag out and Electrical Safety Program, including
a) Site-specific Regulatory (including NFPA 70-E) requirements
b) Personal Protective Equipment
c) Training
d) Provide Subject Matter Expertise to the Vestas Business Academy in the development and deployment of training for Lockout-Tag out and Electrical Safety.
3) Work directly with Technology R&D in order to ensure the highest level of electrical safety in the new Wind Turbine Generator designs and upgrades.
4) Manage electrical safety activities, to include:
a) Data collection and management
b) Regulatory research and evaluation
c) Regulatory inspections and response
d) Requests from customers, group Sustainability, and Vestas Business Units
5) Perform Electrical Safety/LOTO audits:
a) Report findings
b) Evaluate and provide recommendations
c) Monitor audit action item closure
6) Develop and maintain an electrical legal registry for every Business Unit site in North and South America
7) Facilitate Root Cause Analysis Investigations of serious electrical incidents, including citations.
8) Maintain professional expertise so as to keep the organization aware of electrical safety regulatory changes that may impact the business.
9) Actively participate in Wind Energy Association and/or other standardization organizations affecting policy for electrical safety standards in the Wind Industry
