You can expect the challenge of designing and testing complete electronic controls, displays and sensors and engines for equipment that operates under the roughest imaginable conditions. What You'll Do As an Electrical Systems Engineer for our Construction and Forestry division, you will be a key player engaged in planning, development and design of electrical and electronic systems for our John Deere and Hitachi excavators. You also engage with Hitachi, Deere-Hitachi and John Deere Power Systems regarding systems integration activities. In addition you will: - Oversee the creation, development and implementation of electrical and electronic (hardware & software) Product Delivery Process (PDP) projects.
- Work closely with multiple units to ensure success of PDP projects.
- Utilize and contribute to John Deere's Communities of Practice (CoP) to ensure best practices throughout product lines.
- Develop and maintain electrical system and/or component design specifications and Software Requirements Documents (SRD).
- Lead Quality Improvement Teams (QIT) for electrical and electronic components and provide rapid response on field issues.
What It Takes
We need excellent communicators, who thrive on solving problems and working in a team environment. Ideally you will have a Bachelor's degree is Electrical Engineering or relevant work experience. In addition we require: - 3 plus years experience with electrical hardware and software development for mobile equipment applications.
- Experience developing new electrical and electronic hardware and software for Product Delivery Process (PDP) update programs.
- Ability and willingness to travel both domestic and internationally based on business needs.
A strong candidate will also have: an advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, experience with electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, or electro-mechanical systems, knowledge of off-road equipment, knowledge of Product Delivery Processes, C-Programming and Model Based Software Design and applications such as MATLAB/Simulink, Labview, or dSpace, experience in a team lead role and working with outside suppliers.
