Electronic Engineer - VHF Mobile Radio Replacement Project
1. Assist with the preparation of a business case funding approval.
2. Prepare the technical Statement of Work (SOW) for a Request-for-Proposal (RFP) to P25 equipment vendors for a wide area Conventional Mobile Radio System based on Project 25 radio technology to replace the existing legacy analog FM system.
3. Perform coverage analysis by interviewing Transmission line maintenance crews to determine details of existing coverage gaps and relative importance of these gaps to their work. Propose additional repeater sites to reduce these gaps and perform cost-benefit analysis on them.
4. Recommend design of RoIP Ethernet trunk channel over private communication facilities employing analog and digital microwave and UHF radio and SONET fiber communications methods.
5. Analyze system proposals from equipment EPC vendors and assist in the decision to award process.
6. Monitor the system installation and coverage verification process performed by the EPC vendor.
7. Anticipate a minimum of 30% travel.
Supplemental Engineer Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing Project 25 Mobile Radio systems.
- Be mobile radio equipment vendor neutral.
- Demonstrated experience interfacing RoIP P25 repeaters to Ethernet networks.
