Job Description

Electronic Payment Processing Associate

Description:
This person is responsible for the daily reconcilement of the ACH (automated clearing house) and EFT (electric funds transfer) transactions. This includes the daily transaction files incoming and outgoing, as well as Returns and Notifications of Change. This person will process any exception items that do not process properly or need additional attention, as outlined within current Bank policies and procedures. In addition, respond and assist with any requests received for link and ACH related maintenance.



Essential Functions:

-Verify and review incoming and outgoing ACH/EFT transmissions for completeness and accuracy.

-Attention to detail and deadlines are very important.

-Process reflected and unrecognized transactions through data input.

-Track, monitor and report issues relative to incomplete transmission processing.

-Identify and correct reasons for incomplete transmission processing.

-Settle batch work correctly and efficiently

-Issue account maintenance requests to correct data entry errors in account setup.

-Follow up in a timely matter on outstanding issues regarding electronic transmissions.

-Report problem accounts (i.e. Negative balances) to the fraud department promptly.

Qualifications:
-1 to 3 years experience in basic accounting or settlement/reconcilement functions in a financial industry.

-Minimum of 1year experience, preferably 2 years in electronic commerce.



Education and/or Certifications:

-Post-secondary education preferably in Business Administration, Finance or Commerce.

-Banking Institute courses an asset.



Technical skills and abilities:

-Computer literate.

-Sound knowledge of banking and core deposit products, banking systems, and electronic technologies

-Knowledge of basic accounting; debits/credits/general ledger.

The mandate of the Customer Operations Department is to ensure the day-to-day operations activities are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Activities include, but aren't limited to, transmission and settlement of all debit card, pin, bill pay transaction requests, disputes, in clearing, return checks, and customer document handling. Ensure account opening, transaction posting, maintenance and closing is performed accurately. In addition, ensure the overall completion of processing requests resulting from Sales Center and Customer Security activities, direct mail, internet, fax, and third party vendors. All department processing will meet the defined deadlines and service levels of the bank's same day processing.
