Electronics Engineer - Hardware

Job Description: This position will be responsible for the design and validation of electronic circuitry for a Hybrid Electric Vehicle Battery Management System (BMS). The hardware engineer will deliver a fully capable hardware design for all BMS electronics sub-systems, including the Battery Management Unit (BMU) and Cell Supervisory Controller (CSC). The hardware engineer will also be responsible for creating and releasing all pertinent documentation according to project specific and JCI PLUS process requirements. The position is based in Holland, MI. Limited customer travel to JCS in Milwaukee, WI should be expected. Job Responsibilities: - Design and validate BMS electronic circuitry:
- Apply theoretical analysis and bench evaluations to develop new product circuitry
- Ensure all designs fully meet applicable EMC requirements
- Create full schematics and system interconnects for BMU, CSC and other system components
- Create Hardware Software Interface Document (HSI) for BMS system components
- Create CPP documentation for all new hardware blocks
- Per above, work closely with PCB and EMC engineers
- Support hardware design lead engineer as follows:
- Creation of hardware architecture
- Definition of sub-systems requirements based on customer documentation
- Development of hardware DFMEA according to hardware requirements
- Support initial hardware "bring-up"
- Develop and review product test plans
- Support software integration process
- Manage all responsibilities to meet customer delivery expectations:
- Satisfy hardware timing requirements
- Compliance with BOM cost targets
- Use and apply all JCI standards and systems (BOS, PLUS, Lean, CPP, CMP, EPIC, BEP….)
9. Develop and apply a method for capturing and effectively feeding forward lessons learned from prior programs
Education (required): Requirements: - 3 years minimum in an automotive electronics Hardware Design Engineer role
- Intimate knowledge of the automotive electronics product design process - JCI PLUS launch experience highly desirable
- Familiarity with the automotive software design process
- Experience with, and understanding of, in-vehicle EMC mitigation techniques
- Strong communications and organizational skills
