SUMMARY OF POSITION
The E&I Shop is composed of E&I Technicians who perform a wide variety of activities which support the facility and maintain production. Shifts are either eight hours, 5 days a week, with occasional overtime work, or 12 hour rotating shifts with occasional overtime work. An Instrumentation Technician may be required to work in one or more plant areas, doing one or multiple assignments during any given work shift. *Must have strong instrumentation experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS
1. Works independently or in small groups to install, repair, replace, equipment. Bends from waist or squats at hips and knees to work on pumps, valves, motors, and other process equipment. Uses mechanical lifts and hoisting rigging to position equipment, but may be required to lift 25 to 50 pounds without mechanical or personnel aid and carry it as far as 50 feet for installation or repair. Climbs fixed vertical, portable stepladders and extension ladders of heights from 5 feet to 40 feet to obtain access for maintenance and repair of systems and equipment. Must be able to work overhead and at shoulder height from ladders. Must be able to hear alarms and mechanical sounds in order to assess various systems. Must be able to discriminate color for electrical wiring tasks.
2. Works independently or in pairs to repair equipment at work station. Bends from waist to work on equipment. Uses a variety of hand held tools which must be grasped manually, applying as much as 100 pounds of torque to disassemble mechanical units. Tools may be manual, electrical or pneumatic in nature, requiring adequate grip for safe operation.
3. Walks/Stands upon a variety of surfaces to transport materials, equipment and tools between work areas. Required to stand approximately 5-6 hours per day. Standing/walking takes place upon concrete, asphalt, metal grated and diamond steel plated walkways and stairways. Required to climb as high as 5 flights of stairs 3-4 times a day to reach work area. Must be able to kneel, crouch, or crawl to reach restricted access work areas a minimum of 1-2 times daily.
4. Works in varying environmental conditions. Required to work primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions. Outside temperatures may range from -32oF to an excess of 100oF. Indoor temperatures can be 110oF or higher.
OTHER (MARGINAL) JOB TASKS
· Operates heavy equipment such as forklifts and cranes
· Works in confined spaces
· May be required to wear personal protective equipment as appropriate to the task being performed
· Drives both manual and automatic transmission vehicles
· Must be able to read and write
· Required to carry/set up ladders up to 6 feet high
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. MUST HAVE ASSOCIATE DEGREE IN THE FIELD OF INSTRUMENTATION, CONTROLS, AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS OR MINIMUM OF FIVE YEARS EXPERIENCE IN AN INDUSTRIAL ENVIRONMENT. INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE TO INCLUDE INSTRUMENTATION, PROCESS CONTROL, AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS FOUND IN A MODERN MANUFACTURING PLANT.
2. Experience required with DCS & PLC systems, electrical motors, and controls.
3. Must be able to read blueprints and work with 480 VAC 3 PH equipment, (will train) and 120 VAC.
4. Ability to use a computer a must. Experience with computerized maintenance software desirable.
5. Training or work experience required to work on or around electrical circuits from 120 VAC up to 13,200 VAC safely. (will train)
All applicants will be required to participate in additional Instrumentation & Electrical-related testing.
Must be able to pass background and drug screen.
