New Jersey Community Development Corporation (NJCDC) is a non-profit community development and social service agency providing opportunities for people to transform lives.  We are currently recruiting an Employment Specialist for the new Passaic County Green Jobs Training Center

The Employment Specialist is responsible for providing career counseling, job placement, job readiness and follow-up services to program participants.   The responsibilities include:

·         Providing career counseling to all program participants.

·         Researching, identifying and developing employment opportunities in the construction-related and “green jobs” fields.

·         Developing and facilitating life skills workshops.  Administering life skills assessments.

·         Managing and updating case files including the completion of case notes, employability plans, attendance records and follow-up forms.

·         Conducting presentations/information seminars, and attending community activities as needed.

·         Prepares and submits monthly reports.

·         Assists with screening process for each program cycle including, processing applications, testing and interviewing new applicants.

Prospective applicants must have a Bachelors Degree in a human services related field; at least 2 years of experience providing career counseling and job placement services to young adults; the ability to facilitate life skills workshops/seminars; good organizational skills; the ability to work independently; good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; the willingness to work evenings; and a valid NJ drivers license and vehicle.  Computer skills are also essential, with experience with Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel, preferred.  Knowledge of the construction trades and/or Paterson/ Passaic area is a plus.  Attractive salary and benefits package will be provided.
