Our National Security Global Business is currently seeking an Energetic Systems Researcher. This position is located in Atlantic City, NJ.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Candidate will work closely with a Senior Scientist to research and develop test methodologies and protocols for performing high speed measurements of energetic events as well as supporting ongoing instrumentation needs for regularly scheduled blast tests.
Candidate will support the Senior Scientist by gaining an understanding of the mechanics of explosives events to include optical, strain, pressure, and accelerometer measurement techniques for characterizing blast effects. The candidate will assist the Senior Scientist with analysis of test data with the expectation that the candidate will assume a greater role in this area as experience and expertise are sufficiently demonstrated. Similarly, the candidate will contribute to the preparation of test plans as knowledge of instrumentation and test hardware setups are gained through exposure to different test scenarios. The candidate will also investigate sources and suppliers of measurement devices and test fixtures as well as the routine ordering of technical supplies and consumables.
For field testing, after a period of training, candidate will be responsible for setting up high speed video instrumentation that will monitor blast events. Specific duties will include: preparation and painting of test surfaces, connection of cameras and recording devices, cabling between control room and test area, checkout of video equipment, and recording and archival of test events. The majority of field test events occur at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD.
THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
Education: The candidate must have at least a BS in an engineering, physics, or chemistry from an accredited college or university.
Experience: At least 2 years of professional experience
Skills: Excellent communication, teamwork, and writing skills
Travel: Travel is required (up to 25%)
Relocation: Relocation assistance is not available.
Citizenship: US Citizenship is required in order to obtain a Secret Clearance
Security Clearance: Must be willing to submit to a security investigation, meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and obtain a DoD security clearance.
