Sr Mixed-Signal IC Designer
The Technology Solutions R&D group seeks an individual experienced in RF and Mixed-Signal Integrated Circuit design. VLSI experience is a plus. Typical circuits include RF converters, LNAs, PAs, ADCs, DACs and Frequency Synthesizers using CMOS, BiCMOS and compound semiconductors. Typical circuit speeds are >4GHz (both analog and digital). Must have a good intuitive and mathematical understanding of transistor-level design. Must understand layout issues with respect to analog RF performance. Tasks include both simulation and layout.
The best candidates will be able to identify several topologies (including novel ones), evaluate them, identify the design trades and present the results in a clear and concise way. They should be able to then work with the tools to optimize the designs and do the layout and physical verification. May lead small groups and provide moderately complex work direction on a regular basis. Receives limited supervision. Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment in technical areas. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
Necessary Qualifications
- BSEE required, RF/Microwave device, circuit, system or VLSI concentration, 4+ yrs experience in RFIC/mixed-signal IC development
- Proficiency with CAD tools: Cadence Virtuoso and Assura; Agilent ADS and Dynamic Link; Matlab
- Experience with IC design from simulation through layout and physical verification
- Stability analysis
- RF and/or digital testing experience required
- Strong written and oral communication skills (including Microsoft Office)
- Familiarity with Linux shell environment
Desired Qualifications
- MSEE or PhD desired
- Experience in mmWave design
- Automated testing experience (Matlab, GPIB, Labview etc)
- Linux scripting to automate design tasks
- Proficiency in Verilog-A, Verilog, or Verilog-AMS
- Cadence Encounter or Synopses experience
- Signal Processing experience
- RF and mixed-signal packaging experience
