Experience the personal challenge of working for a world class organization and leader in the Utilities and Energy industry as a Plant Engineer at one of our Electric Generation Sites at various locations throughout our Long Island, New York, service territory. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for:

 

·         Performing technical investigations and administrative tasks related to power plant operation and maintenance.

·         Analyzing, identifying, and taking appropriate actions to correct unsatisfactory system and plant conditions and to improve plant performance.

·         Investigating system performance problems and, with Power Engineering, developing system modifications as needed.

·         Interfacing with other company departments as well as external contractors and vendors in the performance of plant operations and maintenance.

·         Conducting equipment tests, analyzing the results and preparing recommendations for corrective actions.

·         Overseeing Company or contractor work force in the performance of plant modifications, maintenance and repairs.

·         Monitoring all plant operating and environmental equipment through regular inspections and review of logs.

·         Be “on call” on a regularly scheduled basis during weekends and off hours to respond to plant contingencies.

 

Qualifications:  A Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is required with a minimum of two years related experience preferred, (power plant systems and maintenance experience preferred).

 

General knowledge in areas of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, electricity and related disciplines is preferred.

 

NOTE: The successful candidate will be assigned as a Plant Engineer at one of our Long Island Generation Sites for approximately one year and then will rotate to other departments in Generation Operations for development.

 

Employees selected for this classification will be required to participate in federally mandated drug testing programs prior to selection, randomly on a year-round basis, after an accident and for reasonable cause.
