About the Job

The Electrical Engineer III is responsible for insuring the efficiency and effectiveness while also performing electrical engineering work in the design, planning, and overseeing the manufacturing of STDN products. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Plans, conducts, and directs the electrical engineering portion of major projects which are complex in nature, necessitating the expert application of electrical power supplies, controls, and instrument engineering knowledge
• Uses standard company procedures and design criteria to develop system designs
• Translates customer technical specifications received from RFQ/Purchase Order into usable engineering data/documentation applicable to the particular assignment
• Supplies electrical engineering technical advice and counsel to other peer engineers, commercial and customer support personnel
• Provides support in the proposal and job estimating process
• Originates and applies new and unique electrical engineering methods and procedures
• Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
• Reviews and interprets drawings for accuracy
• Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications
• Implements design, construction, and testing of prototype units
• Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems
• Prepares interim and completion project reports
• Coordinates staff groups concerning design and delivery of equipment to meet contract commitments
• Understands UL 508A and is familiar with ATEX
• Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions

 

• Computer literacy and competency with Windows-based and AutoCAD applications
• Effective multi-tasking skills
• Knowledge of ATEX Certification
• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the engineering field.
• PLC programming experience
• RS Logix 500 a plus
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 10+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• SIL 2 experience (As applicable to PLCs)

• Working knowledge of CE and IEC as well as NEC electrical code requirements

• EIT or PE a plus

• Effective communication skills
• Problem solving and analytical skills a must
