Engineering Manager (Mechanical) - Electron-Optical Column Design (E-Beam)
KLA-Tencor has an opening in our E-beam division, which designs and manufactures Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) wafer inspection and review equipment. The E-beam market is expected to have strong growth in the next few years, complementing and supplementing optical wafer inspection. The E-beam division currently has about 80 engineers, split about evenly between hardware and software. There are two product lines, with one product line optimized for wafer inspection (fast defect finding) and the other optimized for ultra-high resolution defect review. Each product's life cycle is about 2 years from early development to completion of beta at customer sites.
- Primary role is management of electron optical column product development.
- Be able to manage a team of high performing mechanical engineers to release to production E-beam inspection and review tools.
- Will manage technology development, assign and schedule team members to work on next and future generation E-beam tools, and engage in relevant field escalations and other sustaining issues for the released products.
- Track deliverable's and manage development risks.
- Responsible for working with the technical leads in his group on all subsystems, including electron source (gun), column, and detector.
- Work with optical and system leads to define column system/subsystem design specifications and will also be interacting with a cross functional development team, management, customers, and vendors as part of the job requirements.
- Responsible for managing vendors, contractors, and out-source manufacturers to deliver subsystems that meet design specifications and reliability.
- Follow the design process from requirements to release.
- Strong experience in team management and project tracking as well as at least one of the following disciplines: design and implementation of ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems pertaining to scanning electron microscope technology (SEM), design for high precision mechanical assemblies, design for high voltage operation (connections, terminations, vacuum feed-throughs, and testing),.
- Past experience in materials and material selection for HV and UHV applications, thermal, vibration and acoustic management, high precision tolerancing, analysis, and control is a must. Must have at least 2 years experience managing >2 mechanical engineers.
- Knowledge of standardized product development processes is desired.
