POSITION DESCRIPTION Responsibilities – Position will be responsible for Quality Assurance/Quality Control related to Corps Civil works projects and programs, flood control, river erosion and restoration, and watershed management as well as business development. May also include reports and designs for municipal and state clients that address stormwater management and BMPs. Conduct evaluations of surface water flow using models to estimate channel capacity, velocities, water surface elevations, flow paths, storm drain flow, and mapping of depth/width of floodplains. Provide hydraulic design of proposed facilities including breakwaters, levees, channels, sediment retention structures, grade control and bank stabilization structures, and in-stream restoration features including bio-engineered projects. Serves as primary contact with the client and manages projects to meet client requirements. Requirements – BS in engineering or other closely related field + 17 years professional experience or MS in civil engineering or other closely related field + 15 years of experience. California Professional Engineer Registration. More than 10 years of project management experience. Valid driver’s license and good driving record desired. Previous Experience - Familiarity with Water Resources related work for federal, state and local agencies in California (Central and North CA preferred). At least 15 years experience with hydrologic, hydraulic and geomorphic evaluation and documentation primarily on southwest rivers and stream systems and familiarity with federal hydrologic and hydraulic models such as HEC-RAS, HEC-GeoRAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-GeoHMS, SITES, SAM, HEC-6 and WinTR-20. Familiarity with other proprietary models (e.g. FLO-2D) is a plus. Familiarity with civil design related work for federal, state and local agencies with experience with preparation of design drawings, specifications, cost estimates and comprehensive design reports. Experience in supervising multi-disciplinary teams with engineers, biologists, economists, geomorphologists, and planners and a minimum of 10 years project management experience. Individual must demonstrate strong leadership, management, business development, communication, technical, organizational, and supervisory skills. Individual should have a developed professional network and be recognized as an industry leader.
