Chief Objective of Job: To direct utility maintenance activities and personnel in 170k sq. ft. manufacturing facility

 

WORK TASKS AND DUTIES*

• Oversee maintenance of facility, refrigeration system, warehouse, freezer and infrastructure equipment (boilers, air compressors, hot & cold water systems, cip systems, etc.) to include daily scheduling, planning and review of work and PMs for utility mechanics to allow seven day/week 24-hour coverage of the systems and facility

• Support both capital and in-plant project work

• Provide technical support to mechanics as required

• Maintain critical spare parts program

• Maintain records for two ammonia systems

• Ensure all PMs related to refrigeration systems and the regulatory programs are up to date and complete

• Maintain P&ID drawings for the refrigeration systems; help ensure accuracy and update as necessary

• Maintain leak logs, relief valve logs, etc.

• Develop and update ammonia system SOPs and policies using appropriate systems

• Assist with compliance to other regulatory programs (storm water, hazardous waste, air quality, OSHA, etc.)

• Maintain water treatment system for boilers and condensers with help of outside vendor

• Maintain plant system, e.g., fire sprinkler system, security systems, paging systems, etc.

• Manage any non-capital projects that require outside contractors or vendors

• Act as team leader for PSM; participate in AMMS team

• Perform other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

 

A. Knowledge, skills and abilities:

Comprehensive knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems, boilers and air compressors. Experience with PSM and RMP programs, OSHA regulations and safety policies and procedures. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; effective supervisory skills.

 

Education: Associate Degree with 5–7 years’ experience in an industrial setting and 3–5 years’ supervisory experience

 

 

Work Environment

 

• Varying temperatures: freezer area 18 – 24 degrees below zero, other areas with heat up to 120 degrees; wet environment

 

• High noise areas

 

• Confined spaces

 

• Ability to climb stairs and ladders

 

• Ability to work shifts/weekends

 

• Required to wear company-furnished safety equipment
