ENGINEERING SUPERVISOR – PROJECT ENGINEER

 

TAE, based in South Orange County, California, is a small and unique company working in the area of energy research in association with local academia, national labs and an international consortium of institutions.  TAE has an opening for an Engineering Supervisor – Project Engineer, responsible for supervising staff completing design, analysis, fabrication, and testing for experimental electrical power generation systems.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Responsible for leading technical staff and reporting to Project Manager.

·         Ensure inter-discipline coordination and overall quality control of the work and timely completion of work in accordance with project plans

·         Overall responsibility for schedule and cost, design, procurement, testing, and installation efforts of staff for a large experimental device

 

Requirements:

·         B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

·         At least 20 years relevant experience as a project engineer or other relevant management level

·         Detailed understanding of mechanical component design

·         Able to manage multiple priorities effectively and have proven decision-making skills

·         Project management experience and expertise on projects valued at greater than $20 million

·         Capable of reading machining and construction documents

·         Knowledge of scheduling and cost estimating tools and methods

·         Good verbal and written communication skills

·         Experience with MS Office

 

Preferred Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·         Project management experience and expertise on projects valued at greater than $200 million

·         Experience with power plants and/or fission or fusion experimental devices

·         Experience with high vacuum systems

·         Experience with very high voltage

·         Experience with large magnets
