As part of DRS Signal Solutions Inc., the Integrated Solutions Group (ISG) located in Columbia, MD is passionate about being the performance-value leader in developing, marketing, and manufacturing products that integrate technologies across the DRS spectrum - redefining and extending the limits of high performance deployable signals recording, processing and special storage management systems for the SIGINT, Instrumentation, Information Assurance, Telemetry, and Telecommunications for SWaP constrained platforms.

We operate on a 9/80 work schedule, all employees work 80 hrs in 9 days and have every other Friday off. 

Title: Engineering Technician I

Position Summary:

Support Columbia engineering with project development engineering duties and/or hands-on tasks. After direction is received from engineers, is able to work independently on daily tasks. Beginning familiarity with the engineering technology and an engineering laboratory environment. Entry level, novice technical expertise.

Essential Functions of the Job: 

• Manage incoming material, organize, stock & inventory for engineering.
• Under the direction of project engineers:
  • Responsible for contributing to test reports, bill of materials, and related project documentation etc.
  • Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified electrical and/or mechanical components or assemblies for products
  • Sets up and conducts tests of units and components.
  • Records test procedures and results, creates numerical and graphical data summaries, and contributes to recommendations for changes in product or test methods.
• Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.

Basic Qualifications:

• Strong work ethic; reliable and punctual attendance with an enthusiasm for work.
• Solid judgment and decision making skills.
• Novice programming skills; E.g., PERL, Python, C/C++, Visual Basic
• Novice soldering skills
• Dependable style with a passion for learning.
• Novice technical expertise. Beginning familiarity with the PC construction and internals, PCI-Express cards, Windows and/or Linux and related equipment.
• Demonstrable skills and safety awareness around use of basic hand-tools.
• Capable in the use of Microsoft Word and Office
• High school diploma with technology, science, and/or mathematics emphasis 

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge:

• Engineering Technology or Technical School Certificate
• Current participation in a technology related continuing education, certificate, or degree program.
