Description


The Global Account Manager’s role is to develop relationships with potential new customers to close business for The Planet’s various lines of business. The Global Account Manager will call on new accounts in the small to medium business space and will achieve assigned sales quota by developing a business plan to gain new clients, accurately forecasting revenues and managing pipelines. Responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain account relationships while engaging in a consultative sales process by uncovering and understanding client needs while matching those needs with the appropriate solution to better sell new business to named accounts.
  • Conduct regular calls and meetings with existing clients.
  • Prepare sales quotes, negotiate offers and process sales orders.
  • Increase awareness of current and new products and services and up sell current customer base resulting in monthly revenue.
  • Communicate regularly with customers to ensure satisfaction and improve communication.
  • Participate in sales meetings and training sessions.
  • Participate in the development of new service ideas and sales strategies as needed.
  • Partner with clients through a strategic and consultative sales approach to better understand their business needs, issues, strategies and priorities in order to deliver a value-added business solution.
  • Assist sales support with ensuring client product installation success and client usage in order to optimize client satisfaction.
  • After training, if necessary, demonstrate a strong proficiency in the Orbit customer care portal system for demonstrations while training customers on an “as needed” basis on how to keep their user lists, escalations procedures, ticket requests, etc. up to date.


Required Skills

  • 3-5 years technology sales experience required, preferably in Hosting, Co-location or Managed hosting businesses.
  • Successful track record of meeting or exceeding assigned sales quotas.
  • Must be able to demonstrate previous proven sales, negotiation, communication and problem solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to demonstrate presentation skills and be comfortable presenting to both small and large audiences
  • Familiar with local marketplace, companies and the community within the assigned region.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel & PowerPoint and Webex type products required.
  • Ability to travel as needed to prospect and/or client sites for sales presentations as well as for seminars and trade shows.
  • BA/BS in business related field preferred.
  • Must be able to generate your own leads through cold calling, email campaigns and attending regional networking events and conferences
  • Ability to work remotely with little or no direct supervision
  • Proficient and comfortable in high level contract negotiations
  • Must be self motivated and disciplined.
