Job Summary:
Enterprise Architecture defines a high level architecture focused on mapping information technology capabilities to enterprise needs. Collectively, the enterprise architecture team must provide an appropriate balance of enterprise business, information, technical and solution architectures. An EA program typically involves the development of current and future state business, information, technology and solutions models and the transition plan to move from current state to end state.
The focus is on defining the relationships, flows, and implementation of business (processes/activities/functions, information), applications, data and technology in the enterprise. The enterprise architect provides overall direction, guidance and definition of an architecture strategy to effectively support the corporate business strategy. Responsibilities include researching, analyzing, modeling across the four dimensions of EA and delivering blueprints for the enterprise that can be used to launch and guide strategic initiatives.
This work demands a high degree of collaboration between: the members of the EA team, a particular enterprise architect and the appropriate network of domain architects, and/or appropriate member(s) of the Office of the CIO (O-CIO) leadership team. Significant business knowledge is often necessary and a candidate should have expertise in one or more of the areas in which they concentrate. They may interface across several business areas to proactively assist in defining the future enterprise direction.
The Enterprise Architect interacts with senior O-CIO management and other key stakeholders regarding the technical aspects of strategic decisions for the O-CIO and the enterprise. They have a significant responsibility to drive integration across all aspects of enterprise architecture and ensuring an end to end enterprise focus. They are involved in complex decision making and understanding the far reaching implications across the CIO organization.
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
Typically has 10+ years of IT and business/industry work experience in multiple specialty areas.
Experience preferred in transportation/logistics/distribution industries but not required.
Experience required in enterprise architecture methodologies like TOGAF or frameworks like Zachman.
Prior experience with architecture trade-off analysis methods and considerations of TCO, business flexibility and risks in a balanced manner. Must be able to translate complex ideas and analysis into clearly understandable and impactful presentations or documents to influence senior-most leaders in the organization.
Experience as enterprise architect in large scale global implementations or transformations and integrated processes with PMO, Applications and Technology delivery groups.
Solution/Product experience with COTS systems, preferably Oracle EBS, Siebel, OTM, Fusion Middleware, OBIEE, OIM, and OEM among others.
Must be well informed and knowledgeable around leading edge concepts in technology including SOA, SaaS, Virtualization, Security, Cloud Computing, Mobile devices, Information Management, MDM, BPM, Portals.
Experience in data architecture, modeling, database management systems and package based data models preferred.
Experience with linking business architecture to applications and infrastructure required preferably using EA repository management systems such as IDS Scheer ARIS.
Preferred experience around enterprise architecture metrics identification and management.
Strong decision making and communication skills and ability to easily communicate with senior business leaders (including C-level) as well as technical teams.
