Enterprise Business Architecture represents one of the key enterprise architecture disciplines involved in the capture and management of the enterprise architecture model and the overall assessment and governance of the alignment between the capabilities needed by the business and the solutions provided by IT.
As an Enterprise Business Architect, you will be expected to ensure we are building enterprise information systems that are truly aligned with the business by engaging in the following activities: - Modeling the enterprise and business landscape to analyze the alignment of business capabilities with delivered technology and IT solutions
- Collaborate with the business to evaluate business goals, identify business problems, and propose solutions
- Provide baseline support for the centralized EA repository and strategic road mapping processes
- Provide stewardship for the communities of practice surrounding Business Process Management and Business Architecture
- Drive strategic and transitional planning of applications, information and business functions across the enterprise
- Participate in the design of information and application architectures on the basis of cost, functionality and practicality
- Assist in setting standards and guidelines on how to unambiguously define and describe business and systemic requirements for information systems projects
- Provide leadership, decomposing business programs and business initiatives into an actionable set of project activities, to include business process modeling, simulation, validating the business premise, providing clear direction on the project's execution and assuring a high return on investment
- Stewardship/governance for business services and business processes
- Mentor and coach peers in the lines of business on best practices
- Ensure business/quality objectives are obtained by providing stewardship around business services, business process modeling and management
- Collaborate across other areas of the Enterprise Architecture team
- Facilitate open communication and fact-based decision making
- Facilitate change and process improvement within software development and business organizations
- Collaborate with quality teams to drive continuous improvement
- Research, identify, and recommend industry best practices for solving business problems

Skills and Experience - 5 + years of experience in software design and development
- Strong modeling skills, including business, process, requirements, applications, software, data, and technology
- Experience with Business Process Modeling and Business Process Management oExperience with problem or solution analysis, including requirements techniques like UML
- Experience with strategic planning, portfolio management, and/or application/technology road mappingoBroad systems architecture design, planning and implementation experiences
- Experience with SDLCs, preferably with non-waterfall industry methodologies like Rational Unified Process (RUP)
- Preferred Skills and Experience oKnowledge of IT governance, including COBIT or ITIL
- Experience with Enterprise Business Architecture tools (BPM, rules engines, EA Modeling tools)oKnowledge of UnitedHealth Group businesses, software application portfolio and development methodology
- Experience with SOA practicesoKnowledge of TOGAF and/or Zachman frameworks
- Experience with high-volume, transaction processing software applications
