ENTRY LEVEL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER/FIELD INSPECTION ENGINEER – BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA

 

Orbital Engineering,® Inc., a nationally recognized multi-discipline engineering company with offices in Pittsburgh, PA, Philadelphia, PA, Chicago, IL, and Toledo, OH, is expanding its facilities services/asset management workforce and is recruiting for an entry level Structural Engineer/Field Engineer position to work full-time on site at a customer facility in Birmingham, Alabama supporting major client’s projects as well as others that may be assigned. 

 

Currently, Orbital Engineering,® Inc. is providing facilities services and asset management for a variety of customers in the following industries:

 

Chemicals

General Heavy Manufacturing

Steel

Petrochemicals

Power Generation (fossil)

Pulp and Paper

Refining

 

Our primary work product includes the following:

 

Asset Evaluations

Confined Space Audits

Critical Structures Management® Programs

Due Diligence

Fall Protection

Hoisting and Lifting Devices

Overhead Crane Inspections

Mechanical Integrity

NFPA Arc Flash Studies

Safe Workplace® Programs

 

Technical review of inspection reports, structural condition evaluations, inspections, design/analysis calculations and developing repair designs/sketches.

 

Individuals with the following certifications will be given priority consideration:

 

API 510

API 570

API 653

ASNT TC-1A Level II

 

The successful candidate will have a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural Engineering Focus.  The Structural Engineer must be willing to travel for short to medium terms as assignments require, usually less than one month at a time, though longer term assignments are possible.  Minimal off-shift work is also required, due to customer production requirements.

 

Must be willing and able to work at heights, and be fitted with an OSHA approved half face respirator (clean shaven, no beard).  A current valid driver’s license is a strict requirement.  Overhead crane inspection experience is preferred.
