Essential Job Functions
- CSC's Science, Engineering and Mission Support group is seeking an entry level Environmental Scientist/Analyst Associate Professional to conduct literature searches, review and summarize scientific articles, develop and update EPA policy and guidance documents, coordinate external review of work products, coordinate web-site updates, assist in analysis of data gaps, provide outreach and implementation support, and research, compile, and manage data on contaminants, analytical methods, laboratories, drinking water utilities, and etc.
- Analyzes and interprets trends and patterns using available precedents and guidelines to provide company or clients with an accurate picture of relevant environmental concerns and issues.
- Investigates basic environmental compliance issues, suggests corrective action options to ensure that all issues are handled in a timely and cost effective manner.
- Assists in the design and implementation of smaller scope projects and manages long term compliance to ensure that environmental guidelines are adhered to.
- Interfaces with environmental scientists and other technical personnel to ensure that departmental activities are according to client specifications and guidelines.
Qualification
Basic Qualifications
Minimum of a BS in biology, chemistry, engineering, environmental science, or equivalent; 0-3 years practical experience in the areas of biology, microbiology, engineering, environmental policy, emergency management or laboratory analysis is preferred; strong organizational, task management, and communication skills required; and strong technical writing skills and fluency in MS Office required.Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance required.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field preferred
- Zero or more years of experience in environmental issues
- Experience working with federal environmental and safety rules and regulations and other related issues and topics
- Experience working with environmental compliance programs, policies and procedures
- Experience working with testing procedures and strategies
- Experience working with relevant tools for analysis and interpretation of environmental data
