Environmental Art Director

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Environmental Art Director oversees the artistic development of design materials. Develops the graphics used in a variety of creative projects, including environmental design, retail, design presentations, brochures, catalogs, corporate identity and packaging. Designs may integrate typographic, photographic, illustrative and graphic elements. Candidate should be familiar with Architectural drawings (floor plans and elevations).  Within the studio, the Environmental Art Director works with Design Directors, Project Directors, Graphic Designers and 3D Designers to develop concepts for clients and often specializes in a particular medium.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

v     Responsible for the design, layout and formatting of materials.

v     Supervises graphic designers, freelancers and production artists on projects.

v     Maintain graphic identities for clients across all jobs and keeps consistency.

v     Must work closely and collaboratively with design team to strategically implement strong graphic concepts.

v     Responsible for assisting preparations for presentations.

v     Responsible for the final press-ready design, layout and formatting of materials.

v     Must be able to pre-flight, collect files and archive materials.

v     Responsible for attending press checks and ensure graphic standards of quality.

v     Must work closely with production manager to implement proper production workflow.

v     Read and interpret floor plans and elevations.

v     Must be organized and detail oriented.

v     Punctuality and regular attendance are required on the job.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree from a 4 year college, University or art school in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Communications or closely related field.

Experience: 3-7 years preferred. Must have production art experience. Must have exhibit, tradeshow or retail design experience.
