Environmental Compliance Coordinator

Job Summary:  We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is eager to learn and wants to make a real difference in the Environmental area at Dominion!

The successful candidate will: 
1) Ensure company compliance with environmental regulations for the Kincaid Power Station;


2) Serve as liaison with external and governmental agencies;


3) Coordinate with operations and maintenance personnel to ensure site compliance with environmental, chemical safety, and waste management regulations;


4) Conduct inspections or assessments to determine compliance and provide advice and recommendations regarding compliance issues and corrective actions to Operations and Management;


5) Analyze and evaluate data and prepare reports to keep Management apprised of site environmental compliance;


6) Serve as contact with community/local public to resolve complaints or problems;


7) Procure services or materials for the administration and implementation of environmental programs;


8) Coordinate hazardous waste disposal;


9) Provide training to site personnel in the handling of chemicals, waste materials or other procedural requirements;


10) Evaluate new permits and develop and coordinate implementation of compliance plans;


11) Support environmental compliance efforts at a natural gas combustion turbine power production facility near Joliet, IL;

12) Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

This is not a desk-based position.  The successful candidate is hands-on and will walk the plant in all conditions.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Prefer candidates with Continuous Emission Monitoring (CEM) experience.  Other experience includes:

1) Working knowledge of air, water, waste and SPCC regulations applicable to facility operations;


2) Proven ability to develop, implement and administer environmental compliance plans and processes for company;


3) Excellent communication skills to translate interpretations of and implementation plans for environmental regulation compliance into understandable impacts to Operations, Engineering and Dominion Environmental Services;


4) Strong writing skills;


5) Ability to work in field environment and to direct contract resources;


6) Ability to diplomatically handle sensitive situations with regulatory agencies, the public, or company personnel;


7) Excellent organizational and time management skills;


8) Strong working knowledge of MicroSoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word).

 

Education:  Strongly Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Science or Technical or Environmental Studies or Related Field.

 

Working Conditions:  Position requires ability to climb ladders and stairs, to enter confined spaces, and to work on open grating surfaces that are at significant heights.
