Position Summary – Manager -Environmental Health and Safety

This position will direct the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive safety, health, and environmental program.

     

Duties and Responsibilities

·         Provide multi-site EHS leadership to drive program implementation and execution across DRS facilities located in Johnstown, PA; Largo, FL and Carleton Place, Ontario.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards involving general safety, Process Safety Management, fire safety, environmental safety, and industrial hygiene.
  • Implement and manage employees' occupational health programs in cooperation with the external health provider.
  • Prepare and issue regular site safety reports and all regulatory reports/statistics.
  • Provide professional EHS advice to both senior EHS management on a corporate level, and to Site management, supervisors and employees.
  • Manage and act as key contact for site emergency response and evacuation plans.
  • Maintain all required permits
  • Develop effective safety programs to minimize workers compensation costs
  • Track environmental and safety metrics
  • Develop and deliver training programs to meet regulatory requirements and company objectives
  • Implement health, safety and environmental initiatives.  Lead employee teams for continuous improvement of EHS goals. Effectively interact across sites with managers and employees at all levels to drive EHS improvements and enable them to meet specific business goals.
  • Track timely closure of all EHS audit findings and corrective action items.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions

 

Basic Qualifications

Qualified candidate must have a BS degree in Occupational Safety or Industrial Hygiene, a minimum of 5 years experience in the environmental health and safety field in a manufacturing environment and knowledge of DEP, EPA NFPA and OSHA Regulations and excellent computer skills. Multi site responsibility will be a plus.

     

Additional Skills and Knowledge

  • Demonstrated knowledge of EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.)
  • Ability to influence people through strong interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and strong computer skills.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills.
