Environmental, Health and Safety Professional
Mylan Inc., located in Morgantown, WV currently has an opening for an Environmental, Health and Safety Professional.
This exciting position in our Environmental, Health and Safety department is responsible for assisting the Executive Director of Corporate Safety and Environmental Compliance with establishing, implementing, and maintaining Mylan, and its subsidiaries, policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and Federal environmental, occupational health, and safety regulations. Additionally, this position will perform specialized tasks, and other duties to promote and ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally sound work environment.
In this role, the Environmental, Health and Safety Professional will:
- Formulate and assist with general environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures and programs to be followed by company or plant personnel in compliance with local, state, and federal environmental, occupational health, and safety regulations.
- Provide assistance for the management of hazardous wastes generated by the various laboratories, manufacturing facilities, construction sites, and other areas incorporated by Mylan’s operations to ensure environmental compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Assist the department in the conduction of studies and analyses of industrial incidents, and occupational accidents. Prepare reports of findings with recommendation for corrective action. Assist in the investigation of incidents and accidents to ascertain causes for use in recommending preventive environmental, occupational health, and safety measures, and the development of effective preventive programs.
- Conduct inspections and internal audits of Mylan’s facilities and various programs to detect existing or potential hazards and recommendations for corrective action or preventative measures. Inspect areas of the various facilities, machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Participate in monthly meetings with joint labor management, health, and safety committees.
- Assist with formulating, establishing, coordinating, and conducting related training programs in environmental, health, and safety practices for administrative, manufacturing, laboratory, and outside service personnel. Demonstrate the proper use of safety equipment.
- Assist in gathering and correlating data for the evaluation and assessment of releases to the environment for the purpose of source reduction, pollution prevention, and regulatory agency required reporting.
- Identify and analyze sources of pollution to determine their effects.
- Confer with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, and specialized consultants to discover environmental quality standards, occupational health and safety practices, and new developments in environmental, health, and safety.
- Conduct testing of working areas for noise, toxic, and other hazards.
- Observes workers to determine proper use of prescribed safety equipment.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and other duties related to good environmental, occupational health, and safety practices.
Qualified candidates must possess advance knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA, EPA, DOT, ANSI, ASTM regulations and the Code of Federal Regulations and various Codes of State Regulations. Strong organization, writing, problem definition and solving, reading and interpreting regulations and communication skills are required.
The successful candidate in this role will have a minimum of 5 years of experience with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Safety and Environmental or related field or a minimum of 3 years experience with Masters Degree in Occupational Health, Safety or Environmental Management or related field. However, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
